i could not have asked for a superior spanish school.the staff was energetic and accessible and after two weeks i walked away with much stronger conversational spanish and the hunger to learn more.i wouldn't recommend the surfing portion of the school however...only because the waves in manta are not all that consistent and there is no back up plan in case the waves aren't happening.in two weeks i only surfed 4 out of the 10 days.better to spand your surf money elsewhere or check out the waves and see if you can get a private lesson when they're good...

I attended this school in Nov. 2012 and was very impressed with all aspects of the program.The teachers were very knowledgeable, and Manuel Buchelli was a very helpful and enthusiastic director.The field trips were fun and interesting and my homestay was very comfortable with excellent food.I liked the people from Manta and found them to be very friendly.I also highly recommend the trip to Isla de la Plata.It is a small microcosm of the Galopagos Islands but much cheaper .It was very interesting with lots of birds to see.The island is beautiful. I also liked my teachers and the classes were very helpful to advancing my level of Spanish.Surfing is also available for those who wish to partkae in this activity.Scott, 42, Milwaukee WI

Great time in Ecuador learning Spanish and the culture of Quito. The school was very inviting and I enjoyed the educational experience as well as meeting people from around the world. My friend and me will remember this experience always.

I've learned languages all my life, - English, German, Russian... and I have attended various language schools too. But I never thought it is possible to achieve that much in such a short time + to have so much fun! In addition, I was really very positively surprised how well organized and flexible this school is. Sure, you'll not find a luxury here, but if you are looking for the place to learn Spanish efficiently and price effective, that's the place for sure.

I cannot describe ,accurately what I felt about the school. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. The young lady who was my instructor was the best teacher I ever had!!!. I learned more from her in 4 weeks than I learned here in NYC in 3 years. I will be back in Quito in November and I will sign up immediately.

Ich bin nach Manta aus mehreren Gründen gegangen: Es ist ein Ort am Meer mit nur sehr wenigen Ausländern (nur die Studenten der Schule + paar arme US-Soldaten)und "Ablenkung", so daß man tatsächlich nur Spanisch lernen kann, um dann am Nachmittag ans Meer zu gehen, das muß man mögen - 2 Monate jeden Nachmittag Pazifik, oder am Abend in eine Bar/Kneipe in der man tatsächlich Spanisch sprechen muß, die Schule ist in einem ruhigen verschlafen Viertel, was ich sehr genossen habe; im ersten Augenblick war Manta, wenn man über den stinkenden Rio Manta vom Flughafen kommt, ein Schock. Ich war in Manta 2 Monate - die nachfolgenden 2 Wochen Quito waren sicherlich aufregender, am Abend sprach man aber eher Englisch, die Schule lag in einem Zentrum mit Verkehrskrach, mit einer unglaublichen Luftverschmutzung (und Polizei und Tränengaswolken -zu meiner Zeit gab es Studentenunruhen). Sicherlich die Austellungen und Altstadt sind schön und ich möchte meinen Aufenthalt in Quito nicht missen, dennoch halte ich meine Zeiteinteilung 2 Monate Manta + 2 Wochen Quito für richtig. Die Lehrer in Manta sind sicherlich unterschiedlich, es gab sehr gute,es wurde viel gesprochen (und unglaublich viel gelacht), wie man seine Vokabelliste aufbaut hängt von einem selbst ab, das schien mir einwenig unsystematisch; einmal in der Woche gab es kleine Ausflüge, bei denen auch viel gesprochen wurde, und auch Lehrer dabei waren, die helfen konnten.

I unequivocally recommend Academia Surpacifico (Manta) to anyone interested in learning to speak or improve their Spanish. My Spanish improve dramatically during my two month stay at the school. Under the leadership of Manuael Bucheli and staff, you recieve a magical blend of classroom instruction and cultural experiences. From the very beginning of my instruction I was made to feel as though I was part of a big Ecuadorian family. I was constantly encourage by the staff to attend social gatherings and cultural events in the community. These gatherings enabled me to practice the lessons learned during classroom instruction. Books and classrooms simply are not enough. You have to immerse yourself in the culture. That is what the school encourages and it works. During my stay at the school, I never had any concerns about my safety. The school addressed any questions and concerns I had about traveling and always took the time out to ensure that I was accompanied or recieved by others. If you have any particular interest in the country, the school will ensure that you get that experience. I was never disappointed with their service and efforts to accommodate my request and interests. If you are interested in beaches, the school is a few blocks away from a beach where, if you wake up early enough, you can see the fisherman coming from work. You can also travel along the coast and experience what the other towns have to offer. I traveled throughout Ecuador and got to experience the diverse landscape and culture of the country. It was breathtaking. After school and travel expenses the cost of living is very cheap, compared to New York City. A dollar goes a long way in Ecuador. That is why I was able to stay for two month. I have every intention of going back to Ecuador and I highly recommend others to do so. Que Viva Academia Surpacifico (Manta).

One of the best learning experience in my life!!

I have been living in Manta for more than four months and have seen various schools. Therefore I can assure you that this one is definitely the best one in Manta! People are more than friendly, very well organized and all of the teachers have experience in teaching languages - which is definitely not the case in any other school I have seen. Furthermore school organizes weekendtrips and parties in order to bring their students a bit closer to real ecuadorian live. Besides all that, Manta is really a cool place to be! So don't hesitate and get to know beautiful Ecuador!

I learned a lot of Spanish while studying at Surpacifico. Unfortunately, I could not stay longer.

I think to return to Ecuador next year, I had a wonderful time with Academia Surpacifico.
