Los profesores eran muy amables y provechosos pero necesitas tener alguna idea sobre que quieres estudiar antes de empezar las clases--así pueden ayudarte aprender más.
Evaluation from Oliver:
Casa Xalteva was a great program that I left with both great Spanish speaking abilities - going from zilch to conversational in less than a month - and a love for Nicaragua. The people are what make the program. They are awesome.

I thought Casa Xalteva was excellent, and the next time I'm in Granada I hope to return. I think the sum of what they do and how they do it is really wonderful. Awesome teachers and staff; very hard to leave.
Evaluation from cellosong:
I came to Nicaragua not knowing anyone and was made to feel so welcome and at home at Casa Xalteva that I continued to return to the school even after I had finished studying. I lived with the home stay family I was with for the next 8 months and now I am almost fluent in Spanish and am missing them so much now I am back in England. By the time I left I really felt like I was part of the family and the neighbourhood. An excellent place with excellent people that I would highly recommend.

Nice staff and teachers, they all work with great enthousiasme, and organize a lot of social adtivities.Originaly my plan was to stay for one week, but finally I had these excellent three weeks(!!!) in Granada and made a lot of trips from there. Everyone at Casa Xalteva was so friendly and welcoming. On top of learning and practicing my spanish, I know that I established friendships that will last a life time. Gracias por todo Casa Xalteva!
Evaluation from Katarinadecanada:
I am not being overly generous by giving perfect 5s!! I am so in love with Granada, this school, and the people who run this wonderful school I am heading back there for round 2 in January. Great teachers, excellent field trips, but most of all long lasting meaningful relationships made. me encanta Casa Xalteva
Evaluation from JodiClarke:
This was a fantastic Spanish school and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a professional, fun, warm and welcome learning environment. They are a not-for-profit school and are doing great things for the community. They are all wonderful people working there. I cannot fault it! Jodi, Australia.
Evaluation from SueMcDonnell:
If you want a corporate school with glossy brochures this is not the school for you. If you want to get a taste of Nicaragua and meet some great people whilst taking classes tailored to your needs and level at a school with a social conscience then go here.

I landed in Granada knowing I wanted to do an immersion Spanish program but having no idea where. As a result, I visited almost every Spanish school in town. Fell in love with this place immediately -- it had a community feeling, great ambiance, friendly teachers and students, and was one of the only schools that had group activities after classes, something I really wanted. Many of the other schools said they had activities but didn't really because they didn't have enough students to make it cost-effective. The people here go out of their way to accommodate whatever needs you have, are super fun, and of course extremely knowledgeable. Relative to other schools in town, it is a bit more expensive, but it is in my opinion totally worth it. Additionally, it's a non-profit helping local kids go to school, and I was so impressed too by how well the teachers were treated. You will find that that is just not the case in many of the schools here, unfortunately. Highly recommended!

When I arrived in Nicaragua it was my first time in a Less Developed Country, so obviously I was relatively culture shocked. However, Casa Xalteva organized an airport pick-up with a super friendly guy called Omar and as soon as we arrived at the school the teachers and staff were really hospitable and friendly. I spent 4 weeks learning Spanish and I can say that it was exellent value for money, the excursions were awesome and the after class activities like Salsa lessons were great. I really would recommend this school to anyone, you are guaranteed to pick up the language because the teachers are excellent and on top of that, the money you pay goes towards raising and educating the orphans, so it's all for a good cause.
Evaluation from JennieStarr:
I loved this place! The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. We were met at the airport and taken to our homestay families. I had no Spanish and was able to make myself and my ideas understood after 4 weeks of classes. Fernando only spoke Spanish(which was great!) and he was so patient and encouraging. The school organized great outings on many afternoons and we met up with other students that we traveled with on the weekends. I'll go back for sure!!!

I went to Nicaragua for a whole month and studied at various schools, but I ended up spending most of my time in Granada and with the family and friends I had met there. The program is very intimate and if you prefer a strict and structured environment, this school is more relaxed but that's the beauty of it. It's surroundings encapsulate an all-encompassing feel of closeness and beauty. I would recommend anyone I know to Casa Xalteva, it's a month of my life that feels like a dream, a dream that I will be pursuing in my sleep each night for the rest of my life.
Evaluation from baduchief:
I was considering going to several different schools for the experience of it but I realized after the first week at Xalteva that it was the best one around. It was great value and fantastic people. I would go back in a second!
Evaluation from bstudent:
I have studied at language schools all over Central America, and this is the best school I have found. Many schools claim to be non-profit, but this one actually is. The results of their social programs can be seen on a daily basis, and the school is run by truly exceptional people. They helped me find an excellent volunteer work position and delivered organized enthusiastic instruction. I highly recommend Romel as a teacher.
Evaluation from ervindaniel:
My wife and I did four weeks at this school. In talking to others in other Granada schools, I feel that we made the best choice. I went from never having studied Spanish to 3rd level college spanish in 4 weeks. The teachers are great, they run great (optional) excursions that are cheaper than what you find in town, and they use their profits to help troubled kids, who you can volunteer with. It is a great place to get involved with. It is a great atmosphere at the school, and I made a lot of friends there. I would highly reccomend this school.
Evaluation from rstevenson:
A school that is so cool that it doesn't even have to try... no, seriously, a great community, excellent instruction and a group of people that remind you how to smile.
Evaluation from nomadness:
Overall, I enjoyed my experience of two weeks at this school, which has a great ambience and premises. The school struggled to provide suitable lessons, exercises and materials for an advanced level student. Teachers do not have much training, though some have developed good skills for teaching beginner levels, and they are all very friendly and try hard! They were incredibly patient with my mother-in-law as a raw beginner. The management took an active interest in my feedback and made good efforts to provide what I was looking for. If you are after a fun and relaxed learning environment, without too much structure or homework, this is a good choice. The excursions are fun and well organized. For a more serious learning experience (esp. if you are at upper intermediate or advanced level), I recommend Costa Rica or Mexico! I saw no evidence that schools in Granada could provide that, but the cost is low and city is lovely.
Evaluation from gkashmira:
This is a fantastic Spanish school that also uses it's profits to run programs for local children. After being away from Spanish for 7 years, I spent 4 weeks at Casa Xalteva and was able to easily join a third year Spanish class at a university. Unlike some other schools, the class sizes are kept small and I actually ended up having 1-on-1 for all four weeks. The teachers and friendly and fun and are great at teaching Spanish. The other students at the school were great and the half day excursions are often well priced and lots of fun. We stayed with a family that was very kind and we enjoyed everything about our time at Casa Xalteva.
