Living on your own in a new country presents many personal challenges that I hadn't anticipated, but I know that I've learned and grown from them. Thank you Simon Bolivar!

My experience at Simon Bolivar has been priceless. I would encourage every student to stop whatever he or she are doing and come here to study.

Staff and administration was tremendously helpful and muy amable. One on one instruction was reasonably priced -- a good value -- conscientiously attentive and immediately responsive. The students in this school had a great time. Much comeraderie. The building is nicely maintained, perfectly situated in a wonderful safe part of New Quito. Excellent, quiet, nearby terrific restaurants, bus lines, taxis, just great. Highly recommended.

The teaching and after school activities at simon bolivar school in quito were the best i found in south america. I had never studied spanish before, yet after one month i was speaking and understanding well, after 2 months i spoke spanish fluently. i also had a lot of fun at the school as they have so many after school and weekend activities so it was easy to make new friends.

I have been to several schools in Latin America. This is the best! The faculty did a wonderful job of evaluating my language skills and got me into the right class. I learned a lot in a short time. I hope to go back for another session soon.

My experience at Simon Bolivar was unforgettable and invaluable. My teacher was wonderful, and the many activities at the school helped make it a fun atmosphere for all of the students there. I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning Spanish in a dynamic and fun environment. Worth every penny and then some.

All the teachers and other staff are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. Everything is well arranged and well run. Great bonus having access to the internet at the school. The time spent in Ecuador was very memorable, and I'd love to return some day.

I spent a very enjoyable week at Academia Simon Bolivar in Quito. The staff were very friendly and the quality of teaching was excellent.

Very good! But I got the impression that if you stay there for more than 2-3 weeks and got one teacher on one student it gets kinda looong. But I were only ther for a week and loved it!

I found the one on one teaching a great way to learn a lot of Spanish in a short time. The schools provides activities after classes daily and offers trips on weekends to various places in Ecuador. The value is great compared to the quality and one on one you get. The seem to bend over to accommodate the students. Great school great value friendly with great teachers.

After reading all the positive reviews of Simon Bolivar on this site we were genuinely surprised that our own experience just didn’t live up to the hype. Our main gripe was that we wanted to study in Quito for a week starting on a Wednesday and checked this with the school up front, which they suggested wouldn’t be a problem – only for us to find first thing on Monday morning that we were getting new teachers as they had a policy of giving their full-time staff complete weeks with one student wherever possible. Whilst we understand the logic of this, we wish this was explained to us better before we started the course, or at least on Friday, so we had time to prepare for our new teachers in the second half of the course (as this inevitably sets you back a bit if you have found a rhythm and style you like with the first teacher). Administration and staff communication at the school was generally poor, although the office staff were very friendly when we needed to speak to them. We felt we didn’t get a proper induction to the school, and no-one tested the level we were at before we started studying (meaning we couldn’t get stuck straight in to learning new things in a short time).We also noticed that a lot of the PCs in the computer room were not working. A teacher also behaved inappropriately towards one of us – we fed this back clearly to the school but they did not bother to respond to this or any other concern. Our advice if you are considering studying with this school is to check very carefully that you will have the same teacher throughout if you want to learn in a consistent fashion, and if possible start on Monday. We also recommend not taking the cultural course unless you have only just arrived in the continent and need assistance going to a local market etc – as this part of the course was not very good value for money.
